Romain Desestreit is a Senior Director in FTI Consulting’s Cybersecurity practice and is based in Paris. He has more than 10 years of cybersecurity experience in both the public and private sectors. His career has spanned multiple countries (France, Thailand, and Singapore), and he has served in a range of technical and political roles (R&D, Security, Analyst, Diplomat, and Chief Information Security Officer).
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Desestreit served as a Technical Advisor at The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). During his tenure, he helped developing countries and jurisdictions design, implement, and assess their Information Security Management System to ensure confidentiality while dealing with financial and tax information.
Before this, Mr. Desestreit was appointed as the Deputy Global CISO for Societe Generale Equipment Finance (SGEF) Holding, and its 14 subsidiaries in Europe, US, Brazil, and China.
He also served for more than two years as a diplomat for the French Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, and as a geopolitical analyst and R&D engineer for the French Ministry for Armed Forces.
Mr. Desestreit holds an MSc in Networks, Computer Technologies and Multimedia Communications from Polytech Grenoble and a Btech in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications from the University of Annecy.
