In September 2025, the U.S. Secret Service discovered and dismantled a large network of electronic devices in New York city, consisting of more than 300 co-located SIM servers and 100,000 SIM cards across several locations. This network could have been used to disable cell towers and launch denial of service attacks directed towards U.S. government officials.
