Sydney — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced the appointment of Wouter Veugelen as a Senior Managing Director and Australia Leader of the global Cybersecurity practice, further strengthening the firm’s cybersecurity capabilities in the region.
Wouter Veugelen, who is based in Sydney, joins FTI Consulting as Australia Leader of the firm’s global Cybersecurity practice. Mr. Veugelen has 20 years of international experience in cybersecurity and held Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) positions for two large Australian organisations prior to joining FTI Consulting. He also has 12 years of experience working for Big Four consulting firms, providing cybersecurity services for some of the largest Australian and global organisations.
Wouter will advise clients on information security related matters including strategy, program delivery, assessments, compliance, incident response and will conduct complex investigations to provide cutting-edge and data-driven solutions that arise from cybersecurity incidents. He will continue the expansion of the firm’s Cybersecurity practice in Australia and help clients improve their cybersecurity resilience and meet challenging regulatory demands.

Most recently, he was Vice President of Global Cyber & Information Security at Santos, a global oil and gas exploration and development company, he was responsible for consolidating security strategies, operating models, and security technologies following the Oil Search and Santos merger. Prior to the merger, Mr. Veugelen created and successfully delivered the cybersecurity strategy and program that resulted in a 26-point increase of the information and cybersecurity score on the Corporate Sustainability Scorecard for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), positioning the organisation in the 94th percentile for information and cybersecurity.
Prior to his time at Santos, Mr. Veugelen was Chief Information Security Officer for Healius Limited, one of Australia’s largest multidisciplinary medical services groups.
Wouter also serves on the Executive Advisory Board of the Australian Information Security Association, the country’s largest information security professional services association.
