Matthew Shapiro is a Senior Director in FTI Consulting’s Cybersecurity practice and is based in the New York area. He has more than 15 years of experience managing international risk, geopolitics, and security-related issues for corporations and global investors.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Shapiro founded MacroTessera, a risk consultancy focused on managing geopolitical, regulatory, reputational, and security-related issues using a combination of technology, intelligence, and data. He was a Managing Director at Oxford Analytica, where he led the firm’s North America business, as well as the innovation, strategy, and product development efforts for the firm. Previously, he ran the Global Markets group at Predata Inc., a cutting-edge predictive analytics platform using AI and Machine Learning to quantify and anticipate macro risk. He also served in various leadership roles at Eurasia Group, a New York-based political risk advisory firm, where he was responsible for business development, consulting, research management, and product innovation.
Mr. Shapiro currently serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board at GlobalWonks, a knowledge-tech platform combining human expertise and machine learning, and is a Senior Advisor and member of the International Advisory Council at Oxford Analytica.
Mr. Shapiro holds a MSc in International Relations from Royal Holloway College, University of London and a BA in History and English from Franklin & Marshall College.
