Brian M. Stites is a Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Cybersecurity practice and is based in Washington, D.C. Mr. Stites has over 20 years of critical infrastructure protection and industrial cybersecurity experience having served in numerous high-level cybersecurity roles in the defense and private sectors.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Stites served as a Director at Jacobs Engineering Group, where he focused on digital infrastructure safety and resiliency, metro and utility preparedness, and maritime and transportation infrastructure security. He also previously served as the Vice President of Business Development for the Department of Defense and Critical Infrastructure at Mission Secure Inc., Chief Architect and Senior Manager for Raytheon’s Defense and Commercial Cyber Resilience Group, and Senior Strategic and Operational Planner for L-3 National Security Solutions (acquired by CACI in 2016) focused on executive national crisis response and state and local infrastructure preparedness and incident response.

In his military roles, Mr. Stites has served in numerous senior Navy positions across the cybersecurity and cyber operations mission areas, including two command tours, lead for joint DoD-DHS-FBI cyber operations, the Joint Staff Liaison to U.S. Cyber Command in support of cyber capability development and as the subject matter expert for cyber operations for the Office of Naval Research. He has completed eight deployments on submarines and was a mission area lead for the commissioning teams of U.S. Cyber Command and the Navy’s Fleet Cyber Command.

Mr. Stites holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and an M.A. in National Security Policy –  Science and Technology from Georgetown University. Through Georgetown University, he completed the international program at Oxford University in Economics and Security during the NATO expansion. He is a certified Navy Nuclear Engineer, Navy Quality Assurance Engineer, and Department of Defense Cyber Operations Subject Matter Expert.
