Brad Carpenter is a Managing Director in FTI Consulting’s Cybersecurity practice and is based in New York. He is a global cybersecurity expert with more than 20 years of experience building and leading diverse private sector and government teams to mitigate enterprise and cyber risks. He has helped mitigate digital and physical risk across critical infrastructure and the financial services sector through threat intelligence, cybersecurity incident response, and vulnerability management operations.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Carpenter had a lengthy career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where he most recently served as the Supervisory Special Agent of the FBI Cyber Division in New York. In this role, he established and led the National Cyber Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA) in New York, a threat intelligence fusion center that brought together Global Fortune 500 companies, government partners, and academic institutions to identify and prevent emerging cybersecurity risks. Mr. Carpenter established strong relationships within the financial services sector and created proactive, collaborative working groups, including the Financial Threat Exchange (FTX), the Payment Card Threat Exchange (PCTX), the National Defense Cyber Alliance (NDCA) Financial Sector Program, and others within private equity and insurance. He also assisted in the recovery of millions of dollars stolen via wire fraud and investigated cybersecurity incidents involving corporate data extortion on dark web marketplaces, data breaches, ransomware, and cryptocurrency and investment fraud schemes.

Mr. Carpenter held several other positions within the FBI, including Supervisory Special Agent for the Cyber Crime Task Force, where he supervised a coordinated global law enforcement takedown of numerous illicit underground marketplaces, led an investigation into a data breach at a large, multinational investment bank, and managed the FBI New York Cyber Criminal Squad. Mr. Carpenter has also served on the Joint Terrorism Task Force in New York, as a Supervisory Special Agent for the Counterterrorism Division in Washington, D.C. and London, and as a Special Agent for the Boston Division.

Mr. Carpenter was an FBI CISO Academy Ambassador and has facilitated undergraduate cybersecurity classes with the City University of New York (CUNY) for underrepresented students. He holds a B.A. in History, a B.S. in Administration of Justice from Rutgers University, and an M.P.A. in Leadership, Governance, and Policy from Seton Hall University. He is CISSP, CFE, and GIAC GSEC certified.
